At Cox Wokingham Plastics, we are a thermoforming and plastic manufacturer dedicated to supplying high-quality plastic parts to companies across the globe.

As a UK-based company with over 80 years of experience, we operate at a purpose-built production facility equipped with the latest machinery.

But manufacturing capabilities aren’t just what defines us at Cox Wokingham Plastics!

We are also dedicated to helping customers with concept design specification and prototyping to tooling development, trialling, support, production and aftercare.

So, what are our values at Cox Wokingham Plastics and what services can we offer?

Concept support and material planning – we are with you from the start!

Customer support lies at the heart of everything we do – from the very first conversation to the final delivery of your part.

We’re committed to providing comprehensive concept support as part of our services, collaborating from the very beginning to fully understand each client’s requirements.

At the first stage of any project, our technical experts work closely with the client to establish any specific details and requirements for the part being produced.

Using our wealth of experience, we then suggest any potential design modifications or enhancements that we think would improve its overall effectiveness.

Because we work with all types of thermoplastic materials – and maintain strong relationships with specialist suppliers – we’re also able to advise on the most suitable materials for your project in terms of function, appearance and tactile quality.

In short, our concept support ensures we’re delivering high-quality, commercially viable solutions tailored to your requirements!

Tool prototyping supported by Computer-Aided Design (CAD)

We believe it’s of utmost importance to refine and prototype parts before moving on to the production phase!

Once you are satisfied with your initial product design, we can produce prototype tooling, otherwise known as soft tooling, using materials such as PU resin, to give you the confidence that your final parts meet the quality and functionality you require.

Prototyping can also be achieved using our 3D printer – providing rapid, cost-effective iterations before committing to full-scale production.

To enhance this stage, we have a dedicated in-house CAD/CAM team that is skilled in developing bespoke design solutions to help identify the most suitable materials, production processes and any specialised tooling required.

At every stage, our approach is guided by technical expertise and attention to detail – ensuring the prototype aligns perfectly with your performance goals and budget requirements.

Production toolmaking

Once the sample components are approved, we move on to production tooling.

Tooling, or toolmaking, is the process of designing, and machining all required tooling to both form and machine your final parts.

At Cox Wokingham Plastics, we offer comprehensive tool design and toolmaking services to create specialist fixtures or jigs required to create the end product – all under one roof.

Using robust materials, we can accommodate virtually any shape or design of moulding, ensuring flexibility and precision across a wide range of applications.

After your tool is approved, we can begin thermoforming, CNC machining and assembling your part.

Vacuum and high-pressure thermoforming

Thermoforming, put simply, is the process of heating plastic sheets until it becomes malleable which enables it to form over your tool to create precise, durable parts consistently.

At Cox Wokingham Plastics, we offer a comprehensive range of thermoforming and line bending services, delivering consistent, high-performance results that meet even the most demanding design and production requirements – offering sizes up to 3000mm x 1500mm x 750mm.

Plus, our facility is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery to take our thermoforming a step further than the market standard, including the UK’s largest and most advanced pressure former – the GEISS T10.

With the ability to apply 44 tonnes of pressure on a 2400 x 1200 x 700mm deep bed, the GEISS T10 machine significantly extends our moulding capabilities – putting us ahead of the curve with more complex and fine detailed mouldings with an exceptional, sharp finish.

CNC machining

In addition to thermoforming, we also offer CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining for precision finishing and detailing.

Using your vacuum-formed parts, our in-house CNC machining and programming capabilities allow us to generate precise digital instructions (G-code and M-code) to guide our CNC equipment through complex cutting, milling, and trimming operations.

This process ensures exceptional accuracy, repeatability and surface quality, enabling us to produce high-performance, dimensionally consistent 3D thermoformed components that meet even the most demanding specifications.

Once CNC machining is complete, components can be transferred to our assembly department for integration into sub-assemblies, where metal or other features can be fitted to the part to add value.

Alternatively, if no further processing is required, they can proceed directly to final inspection/quality control, packing and despatch for delivery to the customer.

Executing the final steps – assembly and logistics support

We’re with you every step of the way – right through to final assembly and delivery.

To streamline your manufacturing process, we can provide a comprehensive range of assembly and sub-assembly services, including painting and screen printing.

The assembly process often requires several iterations to perfect, during which jigs and fixtures are made to speed up the assembly process, reduce labour content and ensure the final product is completed to your exact specifications.

Plus, we can help you with your transport requirements too!

From handling worldwide distribution to managing all the necessary export documentation, we take care of the logistics – so your products get from A to B, in full and on time.
